Mid-19th-century silver samovar, maker's mark of Adolf Sper, Saint Petersburg, 1843.

The brim, the cover, and internally gilded. The samovar is supported by four decorated legs and by a base with shell-shaped feet. Acanthus leaf spout with palmette cut mother-of-pearl valve handle.
Assay master's mark Dimitri Ilyich Tverskoy, Saint Petersburg, indistinct year mark, most likely 1843. Stamped on the lid, on the legs, on the base plate and on the rechaud.
Height 34 cm, width 31 cm. Weight 2460 g.

Later insulation rings in the handles, the lower part of the handles with later reinforcement. Engraved N on the side of the base.

Adolf Sper, born in Kirkkonummi, Finland in 1799, became a journeyman in Saint Petersburg in 1821, a master in 1829, and remained active until his death in 1857.
